BREAKING: Spike NOT re-newing Impact Wrestling? Possibly canceled

Word from Spike & TNA is that Spike is not re-newing their contract with TNA to air Impact Wrestling. The deal expires in just over 2 months. If TNA cannot find a new TV deal, Impact Wrestling will be canceled and it seems TNA's future is up in the air.

Earlier today TNA President Dixie Carter held a meeting at company headquarters in Nashville, but until now it was unclear what the meeting was about. Wrestlezone has learned Dixie did in fact meet with SpikeTV representatives last week – most likely on Thursday afternoon – and that she met with her inner circle on Friday to discuss the results of that meeting, in addition to today’s gathering with company officials.

While the following rumor remains unconfirmed, multiple sources close to both TNA and the network have informed WZ that SpikeTV does not want to renew its contract with TNA Wrestling, and when the current TNA/Spike deal expires, Impact Wrestling will be cancelled if the show cannot find a new home in a very short amount of time. It is possible the two sides are still trying to come to some sort of agreement, but at this point that’s what we know.

Wrestlezone has reached out to SpikeTV for comment, and will update the situation as we learn more.

Meltzer has teased it as well due to TNA still employing Russo-who he says Spike hates. Meltzer also teases this will be one of the biggest weeks for news this year as something, other than the announcement of the WWE Network, could go down

TNA wanted to be WCW from day 1 - now they might go out the same way WCW did, losing their TV because the network just decided they didn't want them anymore.

It seems like TMZ is just reporting the same news, but just had the balls to call second hand rumors "official".

The first night of the next tapings at the Manhattan Center on 8/5 will be the Hardcore Justice PPV, which means more weapons matches. The show features Abyss vs. Bram in a tables, tacks, fire and barbed wire ladder match with Janice the barbed wire board hanging from the ceiling

I just read this and wondered, how is this company going out of business?

Damn I take a few hours away from wrestling sites and this breaks.. Love that Dixie trying to claim they are leaving on their own volition when we all know it likely the opposite..

espn would be good, they could have weekly old ppvs on espncl right before the old shows of global wrestling federation maybe speacial like dx or hcj on abc.
I was thinking maybe return to fox sports impact on fox sports1 and specail on fox owned channels like mynetworktv

Reading the tna fansites .. wow, almost feel sorry for all of them. They are like good! Spike never advertize TNA enough.. Dixie, UTC going get them on abetter deal on a  big network such as FX,Fox Sports, AMC, or A&E and it going be so much better.

1. Ad revenue issue...Networks aren't going likely get the ideal amount they would like to have with wrestling.. They would basically be using for Ratings.

2. WWE, the #1 name in the business couldn't get anybody to take 3rd tiers shows like NXT, Superstars. Why would networks take a chance with TNA?

3. All of TNA past legal issues and not listening to what they are told to do..They had Russo helping out when They were told not to have him do anything .. You don't think anybody that might be interesting take TNA on their TV networks... Not going take a look at all that and not think will they be worth the drama?

4. If they do get a tv deal in the us, they aren't going get what SpikeTv was paying them probably a lot less,.. Meaning the TNA we see now wouldn't going be the same one we see on the new network unless people take pay cuts or the Carters really don't mind that TNA getting millions and million more in debt each day.

TNA going really need miracle after miracle at this point to survive another year.

WWE is not in the hole, yeah they are losing some money, but the company as a whole is still making money.  TNA = in the hole.

WWE may buy the video library but they have no reason to take on many of the talent contracts.

Yeah... I don't think there is a chance the WWE buys TNA outright. The MOST they would do is the library and MAYBE specific contracts. The only way this happens though is if TNA goes from being on its last leg to being on no legs.

That said... come on, give Joe a chance!

they expected the network thing to bring in money in fact they are loosing money, they already looking on moving the network to cable by purchasing a spot on the c band satellite. not to mention the budget cuts and dropping talent.
yes tna is worse then wwe,but I don't see vince buying tna video library they have no reason for it.
I do see jj's new fed purchasing TNA.
since day 1 on spike, they never advertised TNA, they might be loosing the us market they are still active in over seas
