WWE signings and releases - Page 9 Empty Rich Swann and Biff Busick sign with WWE

Post by RFSKannon Tue Sep 01, 2015 1:22 pm

    Hey look... Positive WWE news.

    ************

    By Sean Radican, PWTorch columnist

PWTorch has learned that independent stand-outs Biff Busick and Rich Swann have signed WWE Developmental contracts.

Busick and Swann are scheduled to report to NXT in October.

Busick had a try-out with WWE in May and Swann tried out last year.

Both were regulars on WWNLive's EVOLVE shows. However, their signings are unrelated to a potential partnership between WWE and WWNLive. The wheels were in motion for both to sign with WWE prior to talks between WWE and WWNLive started up.

WWE signings and releases - Page 9 Empty WWE announces the signing of Kana

Post by Spudz Tue Sep 08, 2015 12:20 am

STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE announced today the signing of international superstar Kanako Urai, aka Kana, to the NXT division. Kana will officially report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla., in late September.

Over the course of her 11-year career, Kana has become one of the most exciting women ever to compete in Japan. She has appeared in many organizations throughout the country and has held multiple championships. Last month, Kana made a surprise appearance at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, sitting in the audience ringside next to WWE Hall of Famer “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

“We are very excited to have Kana join the NXT roster,” said Triple H, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Creative and Live Events. “Her exciting in-ring style will make an immediate impact on the already impressive NXT women’s division.”

WWE signings and releases - Page 9 Empty La Sombra leaves CMLL, joins NXT

Post by Spudz Thu Nov 19, 2015 10:18 am

    http://www.wwe.com/shows/wwenxt/manuel-alfonso-andrade-oropeza-joins-performance-center-28231747

Formerly known as “La Sombra,” Oropeza is a third-generation luchador whose grandfather, father, uncles and cousins all competed in Mexico. Oropeza signed with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in 2007 at age 17, where he trained under El Satanico. While there, he held many titles, including the CMLL Trio and Tag Team titles and the NWA Welterweight and Middleweight titles.

The WWE Performance Center’s newest luchador also brings experience from Japan; Oropeza made multiple trips to Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), winning the organization’s Intercontinental Championship in 2013.

CMLL can be kind of a drag to watch at times, but losing a guy like La Sombra who is just coming into his athletic prime really hurts the promotion right now.

They tend to rely too heavily on stars that are long past their prime (Shocker says hello), so hopefully this sends a message that they need to start elevating their young lions into more prominent spots. Then again, they'll probably just shift recent AAA defects Cibernetico and Caristico (former Myzteziz, original Sin Cara, and Mistico) after their debuts for fellow Arena Mexico promotion All Elite.

That being said, great news for La Sombra. Now that he's lost his mask, he's definitely got a look that WWE could market very well. He's got some size for a Mexican wrestler and he's a great talent. If he can learn effective English, he can be a long-term star now that WWE desperately wants a Hispanic wrestler in that role.

And if it doesn't work out, he can always go back to CMLL and still have plenty of years to be a headliner there, as he is only 26 years old.

I only really watch CMLL when they do shows with NJPW. La Sombra and Mascara Dorada definitely seemed heads and shoulders above everyone else in my eyes. WWE signing Del Rio and Sombra in like 2 weeks time is a big blow to both promotions.

Solomon Crowe and WWE mutually part ways.

    WWE NXT STAR DEPARTS COMPANY
by Mike Johnson @ 1:03 PM on 11/24/2015

WWE NXT star Solomon Crowe, aka Sami Callihan prior to signing a WWE developmental deal in 2013, has left WWE, PWInsider.com has confirmed. The story making the rounds is that Crowe requested and received his WWE release yesterday. We don't know more than that at this time.

All material related to him has already been pulled from the WWE website.

Crowe, 28, had built a nice following for himself with his work in EVOLVE, CZW, Dragon Gate USA and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, among other independent promotions before signing with WWE. If he's returning to the indy scene, he'll have an easy job getting regular bookings.
