Impact moving to Fridays, gets Sat. morning show + a new logo(Pic) Empty TNA Wrestling being 'rebooted' on DA; Matthews replaces Tenay

    Post by Joe5150 Wed Nov 26, 2014 11:10 pm

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirms reports that TNA is planning to “reboot” Impact when they debut on Destination America. The plan is to debut new graphics and a change in the way the show is visually presented.

Among the biggest changes planned is that Josh Matthews, who signed on with TNA after he was released by WWE earlier this year, will replace Mike Tenay on the commentary team. TNA brought him in to be an announcer originally and relocated him to TNA’s home city of Nashville, where he’s been working on several different projects over the past few months.

    Extra from Dave:

TNA is looking to sign Tenay and keep him in an on-air role because they don't want him to sign with Jarrett if he ever gets a TV show.

I'm just glad Matthews is getting work. He's a million times better than Striker.

Friday nights on a network with very little reach and visibility is not good for TNA, especially since it's almost certain that they're taking a substantial cut in TV rights fees from Discovery compared to Spike.

Granted, a big portion of TNA's audience probably watches on DVR anyway, but still.

I would imagine that Friday nights was a Discovery move, as I can't see why TNA would want that as their night, especially after the recent change to Wednesday (even though that was move made by Spike).

The only reason I could see TNA moving away from Wednesdays is that it's a day of the week that's going to be very crowded with wrestling shows: Lucha Underground is on and WWE is going to be moving NXT (and most likely Superstars as well) once SmackDown moves back to Thursdays.
