Yeah, ROH hasn't been all bad this year, but it is harder for me to get motivated for the product.

yeah I'm in the same position, I don't think the current product is bad. But I just don't feel compelled to watch the iPPV/VOD shows.

I would probably be more likely to get into the current product if ROH's TV show was available in NYC.

I get the TV show. I am entertained by it about half the time. London and Strong had a really fun match not long ago. I think they just lost too much in too short a time and didn't evolve quickly enough. The product seems safe. Regardless, its still fine. I hope they can mix it up with some new(old) names.

If its not Raw and it doesn't end up on my DVR I am not going to watch. And that's where ROH not being in NYC hurts.

Funny thing.. I find out tonight that Smash Wrestling is having Chris Hero vs. AJ Styles in Toronto on January 26.

- With AJ Styles returning to Ring of Honor next month, there is some speculation that ROH and TNA may be working together but that is not the case. Styles is really done with TNA and this is not part of a storyline.

Both companies had been feeling each other out for some time and at one point, AJ had discussions with ROH about working with them in 2014 once his TNA deal expired. At some point, those talks halted because AJ was negotiating with TNA.

When Jeff Jarrett announced his resignation from TNA, word is that Styles took that as a sign that all was not right with TNA and perhaps he doesn't want to return to the company any time soon.

--A.J. Styles vs. Chris Hero headlines 1/26 in Toronto for Smash Wrestling at the E-Zone for a show at 4 p.m. They will air the Royal Rumble on the big screens in he building right after the live show.

For anyone curious, AJ/Strong botched the Styles Clash on AJ's return nearly crippling Strong. People in attendance said it looked similar to what happened with Kazarian in TNA awhile back. There's a video of it floating around, that PWInsider posted.

It's not as bad as the Kazarian one, but apparently Strong also did this in his other ROH match against Styles.

It looks like it was Roddy's fault from the angle I saw it at. It looked like he tucked his neck forward which is the opposite of what you would want to do I would guess

Yeah it didn't look like it was Styles' fault at all. But it got good pub for ROH because it made it to Deadspin.

AJ's newest ROH dates:

2/22 & 2/23 (TV) in Philly
3/22 in Dayton
4/19 (TV) in Baltimore

I'm pretty sure one of those Philly dates is the Anniversary show.

They have opened talks with New Japan with an attempt to bring Hiroshi Tanahashi in. There have been talks about using a number of New Japan wrestlers during 2014 for major shows.

Apparently this was in the observer newsletter under ROH.

I would be very surprised if they got Tanahashi.

This was in the newsletter. I don't think ROH has that much money.

Tanahashi? Why go after one of the most expensive when he'll draw just as well as anyone cheaper?

last time Tanahashi was in the US was 2011, it was for NJPW East Coast Invasion shows that drew 587 (NJ), 1,200 (NY) and 500 (PA).

I mean if Tanahashi was booked for NY I would go to my first ROH show in many years. But I still don't think it'd probably be worth it for them. Unless they work out a great deal.

I think they're trying to bring him in for Border Wars, because apparently it's easier to get guys into Canada without a visa.

Makes sense... the Canada thing.. not them dishing out the money it will take.

I don't know. I guess I shouldn't say that. I can see ROH picking up some momentum soon. With AJ and hero in the mix and Joe's contract maybe coming up. ROH might be able to spice up a product that I think has been lagging lately. Those names could also help drum up some renewed attention that might help return on that investment.


Or... maybe not.
