Jeff Jarrett's GFW Thread Empty Jeff Jarrett Rumors

Post by TeeBeeKay Tue Jan 07, 2014 7:00 am

So the rumor going around is JJ is planning on opening a new promotion with Toby Keith as the money man.

That is the rumor the rest is my speculation.

Now one would think they would have a shot at TV with CMT, I think CMT did Hogan's celebrity wrestling and they have Steve Austin's Redneck Island, so they have a history of wrestling/wrestlers.

Now assuming this goes through, who would be on the roster?

AJ Styles seems like the logical main guy

I would guess a lot of the guys that were on Ring Ka King would be on the show

Other guys I would guess he would be interested in
    The Young Bucks
    The American Wolves
    Colt Cabana
    Matt Hardy
    Kendrick
    London
    Trent
    Joey Ryan
    Alex Shelley
    Kenny Omega
    Karl Anderson

It would obviously depend on the taping schedule for a lot of those guys

And to throw one insane never going to happen theory out there, Titor Conglomerate recently had a sports entertainment entity listed for sale, maybe JJ and TK bought Chikara and plan on rebooting it on TV

Depends on how much money is really behind it. Some of those guys might not be all that interested, at least not as much as one might expect.

I would be torn if this happened. I actually kinda like JJ as a booker. I think he needs to work with other smart wrestling folks and keep himself off tv, but he lives and breathes wrestling. On the other hand I kind of hate Toby Keith. I have lots of reasons, but mostly because I choose to like or dislike celebrities based on arbitrary qualities and surface level characteristics and I am pretty ok with that. Maybe he is really nice and has wrestling's best interests in mind, but I doubt it. It would be hard for me to support a product he is associated with.

I know... but profit will still get kicked back to him and if he is involved there is a good chance he will be used to get the company publicity. I am not saying it would prevent me from watching. It would really be more like an irritating itch I cant scratch.

Meh, it's not nearly as dangerous as it used to be. These days, people just don't really care.

My main beef with Jeff Jarrett in early TNA was that he was constantly the champion. It's always a turnoff for the "promoter" to make himself the champion.

Word! Is this comes to a head, It will probably have my support. I would be willing to bet that given contract availability we could see allot of TNA guys jumping ship or allot of the previous TNA talent that has been pushed off or scared away by Dixie and her ilk. AJ is not the only person that doesn't like the changes in TNA since Jarrett has lost power, I have said since day one that the less he has involved the worse things have gotten.

there's room for a third national promotion.

whether it would be what I'd want it to be is something I doubt

Is there room for a national 3rd promotion? I mean WWE on its own puts out more content then I can keep up with. TNA seems to be barely surviving....I don't know if a third promotion would do good at all. Maybe if it was a strictly TV thing that only taped a few times a year or something it could make some money. But a 3rd big time, touring promotion would probably lose its ass.

There are so many people you could get to start a pretty loaded independent company with potential...

    Think about this...

    Main Event Scene
    AJ Styles
    Davey Richards
    Homicide
    Raven
    Rhino

    Secondary Title
    Shane Helms
    Petey Williams
    Alex Shelley
    Colt Cobana
    Sonjay Dutt
    Crimson
    Elijah Burke
    Shelton Benjamin
Judas Mesisas (Who is a top wrestler in Mexico, could move to HW division)

    Tag Team Division
    Basham Brothers (Doug and Danny)
    MNM (Mercury, Nitro, Melina)
Rock N' Rave Connection (Jimmy Rave & Lance Rock)
    The Young Bucks
    London & Kendrick

    Women's Division
    Melina
    Shelly Martinez
    Mickie James
    Kaitlyn
    Sarah Stock
    Angelina Love
    Katie Lee Burchill

Jarrett has ties with almost off of these wrestlers at one time or another. I'm not sure how he pays a roster because I just can't imagine Jarrett be big millionaire. He's just going to need to find a lot of financial support for this to work.

I'm pretty sure Joey Mercury is retired and works as a trainer for WWE.

And that main event scene in 2014, have you seen Raven lately?

I'm not really saying the talent isn't there, I'm saying I don't think there is enough room in the market for a #3 promotion.

I'm definitely not saying that would be they ideal main event scene, but for an upstart company, that wouldn't be a bad list at all. Raven's no young chicken, but he'd still bring the attraction of a hardcore fanbase...

Either way, I just don't see this happening without some big backer. And no guarantee he gets a solid TV contract either, I mean how long did it take ROH to get a real deal, shoot how long did it take TNA to get a contract from Spike, and Spike doesn't even advertise them that much.

As far as room for a third major company, I don't think Jarrett's company would be #3 anytime soon, then again, TNA and ROH are not exactly money making companies. And the worst part about ROH, is as far as TV contracts they've reached their high point. You're never going to have the major channels come after you because there is no way Sinclair Media would let them go. That's the disadvantage of being own by a television network related company like Sinclair Media. Limited exposure = limited opportunity to grow. If TNA was to fall, its very possible in a few years another organization could jump right in to their spot.

Jeff Jarrett's GFW Thread Empty Jeff Jarrett releases teaser for his new promotion?

    Post by Joe5150 Sun Feb 02, 2014 8:57 pm

    "It's Coming" using The Who.

If you follow JJ on Twitter, he's talking about major meetings in LA, talent scouting at indy shows, and he's gonna make the announcement soon, when the time is right(pretty much when everything is all signed and venues are booked I'm guessing).

It'll be interesting who & his partners sign on for the promotion.

Interesting note, the first ever Jeff Jarrett vs Colt Cabana match is happening at WrestleMania weekend, I'm sure Cabana would be a guy on Jarrett's radar.

That was a great theme, but to be fair, we haven't heard it in like 5 years.
