There is no one in Vince's league, financially or exposure wise. The man has his own network. The NFL metaphor stands. Not even close. I'd wager a bet that the average salary of TNA, ROH, CHIKARA, PWG and EVOLVE combined do not equal WWE's average salary. This does not even take into account sustainability and strong leadership.

Also Sting worked for WCW. He has no morale high ground for 'not working for the WWE' when he worked for something far worse.

Also cursing does not make your wrong point suddenly correct.

Come to think of it, Vince McMahon Sr dieing only a mere year before Wrestlemania is a pretty strange coincidence...

I honestly think it is just a selfish position. You are demanding that others take a moral high ground you create for them. It is real easy to take your moral stand when you aren't given the option.  I get the Vince hate (kinda - but not the extent it is taken here), but I don't understand the frowning upon wrestlers who choose to work for him, given the opportunity.  If nothing else, Vince provides a platform that connects sting to more fans than he could ever reach with another promotion. He is a conduit to the praise and the recognition that Sting really deserves.

Edit: just nixed a sentence i accidentally left in when I was chasing another line of thought before I deleted it.

Hey at least he isn't in the WWE. He can always hold his head high and know that he is a better man than all those people who signed with the WWE.

No one will ever compete on an equal level with WWE. you could throw billions at it and still not be able to match their infrastructure and legacy.

Christ if you're really a Sting fan you'd want to see him cement his legacy to mainstream wrestling fans as a huge star in a last, well booked, well protected, SHORT run.

    from lordsofpain
Regarding Sting's status with WWE, word came out this week that the deal that WWE offered him ultimately ended up being similar to the standard $10,000 Legends contract without any other guarantees.

Talks between the two sides were going very smoothly and it's said that they are still in negotiations.

    - WrestlingDVDNews.com has confirmed that WWE is going ahead with a DVD and Blu-ray on Sting and it will be released on September 23rd in the United States and on September 29th in the UK. It's possible that this will just be a match compilation and they will release a Sting documentary, as hinted at in the most recent Fan Council survey, down the line. Below is the DVD synopsis:

"The Sting DVD chronicles his entire career from his Mid-South days as part of the Blade-Runners (with Ultimate Warrior) through his last WCW match vs. Ric Flair on the very last episode of WCW Monday Nitro (3/26/01).

The video features more than two dozen matches in total, many never before released on DVD. This includes a combination of well-known memorable matches, as well as some fairly obscure matches including encounters with Vader, Cactus Jack, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair. In addition, packages throughout the title will help tell the story of Sting’s career evolution."

WrestlingDVDNews.com also confirms that there are tentative plans for Sting to be included in the WWE 2K15 video game, likely as a pre-order bonus.

At least two casting agencies sent out notices this weekend for a WWE project that takes place next Monday, June 16th. It did not list a location but next week’s RAW takes place from Cleveland and we know at least one of the agencies is based in California.

The name of the project is “WWE Orchestra” and WWE is looking for 14 total males and females of any ethnicity to appear in an orchestra. They will be wearing Sting face-paint and not actually playing their instruments as music will be dubbed in, according to the notice. The pay for the gig is $650 plus an agency fee.

The listing for the orchestra stand-ins reads like this:

“Orchestra musicians with own instruments Principal Male or Female / 18 to 70 / All Ethnicities Looking for an orchestra of 14 musicians, all with own instruments – ideally a full orchestra who play together regularly. They will be “fake” playing in the promo, music will be dubbed in. All will be wearing the face paint that Sting is known for. Must be OK with heavy face makeup. Any leads on full orchestras who would love to make some money, would be awesome!! Open to all ages (over 18) and for the most part, people will be unrecognizable.”

The listing for the Sting body double reads like this:

“Body double for STING Photo Double Male / 38 to 50 / Caucasian, Ethnically Ambiguous, Hispanic, Mixed, Multi-Ethnic 6’2, 250lb of pure muscle. Prefer a guy with wrestling experience, very fit. HEAVILY muscular. Slightly longer dark hair. Will have a full face of make up on. paying a higher rate as we need a GREAT double for this.”
