Yeah so they said that the club they were gonna run was too small and they were doing renovations on the outside part of the venue they were gonna run so they moved it to Brooklyn. So I was gonna break my ban on Brooklyn wrestling shows and check out Mundo/AJ and the Young Bucks but it's on a GOD DAMN WEDNESDAY. Anyway I digress.
I really enjoyed the show last night. I thought the crowd was lame for the most part. They didn't pop for a lot and the majority of the people just weren't making any type of noise. I was real confused as to why. It was a big space and I wonder if that had anything to do with it but I doubt it. They said they would come back to Queens once or twice more this year and I hope this lame crowd didn't ruin that.
Anyway to the show review:
Opener saw Robbie E beat Orange Cassidy. Comedy match with a ton of comedy with the selfie stick. People enjoyed this.
Juicy Product beat Trent? & Bandido Jr. This was an awesome God damn match. One of my favorites on the night. Juicy Product is good surprised I don't see them around more prominent indies. Only thing that sucked was the girl behind me (who was THE WORRRSSSSTTT) kept yelling that people should stop ooohing and aweeeing because "it's just sound effects". Fuck you bitch.
There was a four way with the winner enter the FWE Rumble. Jorge Santi beat Wes Draven, some dude and Kevin Tibbs. I gotta say that the audio in the building was the best I've ever heard at an indie show. With that said there was a guy who's name I didn't understand. This match was short and whatever, seems like these are all their students and shit. Wes Draven did a cool diver but ultimately is terrible. Santi is decent, he's a big guy who moves well.
Katarina Leigh (Katie Lea Burchill) beat Taeler Hendrix. This match was fine, better than any diva's match you've seen. Hendrix has HUGE tits and was getting cat calls which I didn't care for. No heat at all for this match. Might have actually killed the crowd.
Johnny Gargano beat Brian Meyers (Curt Hawkins). This is the match I paid to see and it did not disappoint. One of the best of the night. Had probably the most heat on the night. Just a great great match. Super good. I loved it.
Tony Nese & Jigsaw beat The Colony (Fire & Silver Ant). Awesome match. Held under lucha rules so it was extra awesome. Jigsaw has new gear and a new mask. The new mask isn't good. Still, awesome lucha, not enough lucha chants. LUCHA!
Joey Ryan beat Tommy Dreamer in a Joey Ryan Rules match. I don't even know how to describe this match. It was insane. The did the legos spot, TWICE! Bunch of lolipop spots for both guys. Candice interfered to help Joey win. Not a bad match, it was entertaining rather than good technically and what not. Candice's interference lead to:
Candice LaRae beat Veda Scott to retain the FWE Women's Title. Fine match. There was a ton of garbage and legos in the ring that the ref and staff took forever to clean so they had to do stuff on the floor for a while. Joey and Tommy stayed on the outside and Tommy got tossed which lead to Joey interfering and Candice winning. Without the Gabe booking I think this could have been a great match, but it was short.
The Addiction beat Adrenaline Express. All the tag matches on this show were fun and different. I enjoyed this match. Kaz and Daniels won and after the match EJ Risk, one of the guys from Adrenaline Express retired, said he had a bad neck injury. Crowd gave him a nice hand.
Drew Galloway beat Matt Hardy to retain the ICW World Title. So Galloway was working heel and someone started chanting 3MB and he gave him the fan the finger. Awesome. ICW title rules are no countout and no DQ, so it was basically a hardcore match. I didn't hate it. It looked like Hardy had won but the ref reversed his decision because Galloway's foot was on the ropes and then Galloway hit Hardy with his finisher under hook DDT that I don't know the name of and won immediately. Dude behind me kept screaming 'RETWEET" at Hardy. I don't get it and it was stupid. I always sit by winners.
At this point EJ Risk's partner game out and declared for the FWE Rumble. Said he didn't know his partner was going to retire so now he has to go it alone. Crowd cheered him and Risk again and then he turned on Risk and superkicked him and give him a ridiculous neck breaker on his knee. No idea if this dude is really retiring or if it's a work. But a good angle, dude got heat.
MAIN EVENT TIME! Paul London beat Matt Sydal to retain the FWE Tri Borough Title. London did his entrance where he says hi to every fan in the building. It was awesome and I gave him a high five. Then London (who had an Austin like bionic redneck knee brace on) did some comedy and wrestling and stuff. First ever meeting between these gentlemen and they had a very fun main event. I enjoyed this a lot. Nothing on this show really sucked.
After London retained his title, Joey Ryan came out and requested a title match with London. London was in the ring and Candice crept up behind him and gave him a balls plex. Got a ton of heat. Crowd loved London. London got up and said he was going to beat Joey and Candice up. Then proposed a tag team between him and Sydal, he called them Altered State. Then a fan yelled to call them Jesus Reborn and they loved that.
Fun end to a fun show. I will def be at their next Queens show, we will see about Brooklyn. Oh and I won 825$ at the slots before the show.
