CM Punk released from WWE

According to PWInsider, he was released on Friday from his contract.

Not sure I understand that move from WWE's perspective.

Yeah, I would think they would keep him on till July when it expires in case theey could work something out. I'm only thinking they don't want to pay him the money and maybe they have to release him if he wants out.

Interesting play, maybe they had to pay him? Maybe they want him to come back eventually so they're trying to appease him?

Something pretty standard with all WWE deals is that if someone walks out with dates left or time left on their deal, WWE has the right to site breech of contract and stop all payment to the individual. They actually did this with Steve Austin back in the day when he (understandably) walked out after the not wanting to job to Lensar with no build.

what Pwinsider actual wrote .. There was talk going around at the weekend house shows that CM Punk was given his official release from WWE on Friday. We have not been able to confirm that and Punk is still shown on the Superstars page of WWE website. We did hear from a few people that spoke to him recently and he is telling them that he is "done".

--Officially, WWE has said nothing regarding C.M. Punk. One person within the company contacted us and said he was not released.

Pwinsider confirmed he has not been released. They actually never reported he had been either.

Meh. I mean it doesn't really matter if he was released on not. Either way, he's not showing up soon.
