According to Meltzer, Liger being brought in was a political move against ROH, first of many.

    Dave posted this: https://twitter.com/DeathToAllMarks/status/622181649263009793

Dave says the next chapter in the WWE/ROH war was described from someone close to the situation as "They'll never see what's coming next."

I'm thinking AJ Styles shows up at TakeOver as he weirdly not booked for the ROH show that night. Jay Lethal is not under contract. We'll see...

We haven't seen anything like this with WWE since the 80's.

So I didn't see this until just now but apparently Dave wrote on the F4W BOARD that WWE is gonna book ROH buildings and told those buildings to drop their ROH shows.

Jeeze, WWE going hard after ROH.

What seems to be happening is WWE wants to be the top 'Indy' brand with their NXT show. I'm fine with that, but they are going about it in a way that they are purposely try to hurt companies like ROH. ROH is probably like bombing attendance wise like less than a dozen times before they go under, this move by WWE is purely to take out Ring of Honor. It seems weird, because WWE has pretty much had a positive relationship with them for the last decade, but something this year clearly changed that is causing officials in WWE pulling moves as a 'fuck you' to ROH.

A friend of mine, Joey Numbas on Wrestling Soup podcast, has been saying something that I agree with, WWE is gonna try to take out the top indie companies(the ones that created the Ambrose, Owens, Rollins, Punk's, Joe's, Cesaro's, Bryan's, etc of the wrestling world), especially those companies that always did those 'WrestleMania Weekend' events. If WWE kills the 'elite indies', that a dangerous thing, because that means no more 'indy darlings' that turned into the Kevin Owens', CM Punk's, Daniel Bryan's, etc. Instead we'll be getting more 'Mojo Rawley's' or 'Baron Corbn's'.

Just something to think about. While NXT is great, WWE using to hurt the rest of American wrestling would not be a good thing at all.

There will never not be indys or top indy talent, that will never happen

Also WWE won't put ROH out of business, unless Sinclair wants to sell, ROH is owned by a giant corporation that doesn't give a fuck about wrestling, they want cheap programming for their stations, ROH might change in style(like they already have from the mid 2000's) and might need to find new venues but they will, and ROH will go on as it has for the past few years

Even if ROH goes down, Evolve and PWG are top indys that WWE can pluck their talent from. Also smaller indys have great talent as well.

That's not the point though. If ROH were to somehow ultimately shut down because of WWE's business practices with NXT, that would be an absolute shame for the industry, as ROH has been the breeding ground for many of WWE's top stars in recent years.

Although indys will always exist to some degree, it's not likely that they'll be able to exist at the level that ROH has been operating, at least not for quite a while as most promoters would likely be afraid of their own shadow in fear of not incurring the wrath of the WWE. It's possible that the indys could experience somewhat of a drought similar to the 90's when the territories died out.

It's hilarious how fans have bought in to the idea that NXT is the "true alternative" to WWE, when people forget it's a WWE product. I honestly feel like the mystique and hype of the brand have become the draw rather than the actual product, as the weekly show has diminished greatly in quality lately.

Like ROH has some good guys and they are selling out most of their buildings right now but their product and top stars are not what they used to be. It would be a shame if WWE put ROH out of business but it's not as if this is ROH at 2005 when they had all their stars like Bryan, Joe, Styles, Daniels, Aries, Sydal, Nigel and so on and so on.
