I saw this coming when he returned to TNA, and I'm actually kind of excited for it.
Lashley is a decent fighter, but the fact that an active pro wrestling champion is going to be participating in a nationally televised MMA fight is pretty cool.
It also helps that Bellator is stacking this card because the UFC decided to hold a card on the same night at a venue just 20 minutes away from where Bellator will be.

But on the same thing if Bobby gets hurt while being champion it's not going to help TNA any.

Yes. And she will be joined by several fighters attempting to drive into the Mohegan Sun Casino after they reveal Bellator gives away free tickets (after Dana White does his one of his ticket giveaways on Twitter).

The guy he's fighting is an MMA equivalent of a jobber. I've seen him fight a few times in Bellator, and he's a stocky dude who fights well above his weight class. Lashley is more than good enough to beat the guy.

TNA Champion Bobby Lashley defeated Josh Burns in the second round of Friday's Bellator 123 event that was broadcast on Spike TV. Lashley took Burns down early in round one and was unable to put him away with a few submission hold attempts, but he did bloody him with several punches and elbows.
His TNA Title reign and TNA in general was talked about. They were co-promoting.

There was a possibility of him being on the Tito vs. Bonnar card in November, but Lashley ended up on the October 24 card because Bellator needs name to fill their other shows this season.
Looks like him continuing to do this dual Pro Wrestling/MMA career will pay off for him with TNA's status being uncertain for the next year.
