Having attended both tapings this weekend, I can neither confirm nor deny this.
However, let's just say that Lucha Underground knows that they gotta "Back The Mack."

Having been to every Season 2 taping thus far, I can say that there is a ton of incredible stuff coming up.
There's plenty of surprises, new faces (some of which can be seen in the trailer above), ground-breaking matches, and follow-up to many of the cliff-hangers from the Season 1 finale.
Given that we don't get to see any of the vignettes in The Temple, I'm sure the complete episodes will be even better once those are included in the final product.

So at the Temple this weekend, I believe that I saw a crowe around. But then again, it was kind of dark, so who knows...

Re: Lucha Underground season 2 thread
The production is movie quality & backstage promos are so awesome/over-the-top in a great way, I love that all the matches made sense. Fenix losing the Gift of the God Title, which led to the former Trios champs fighting for the #1 contendership which Iveiliess tingeing a title shot and losing in an Lucha Underground Title match. First, Man vs. Woman World title match.
What a great hour of TV

At the very least you can DM them to me. I don't get El Rey so I don't mind spoilers considering I watch the show a week late on YouTube anyway.

Re: Lucha Underground season 2 thread
This is going to be lengthy, so bare with me.
So, nearly 100 fans who had email ticket confirmations ended up getting turned away (myself & my group included), in order to make room for "VIPs." Actually, we were told that we were going to be on "standby" and have to wait as the "VIPs" actually arrived or not. Keep in mind that the Temple only fits about 300 or so audience members.
These fans that were turned away waited several hours in the rain, which was quite bad by SoCal standards (though I'm sure nothing to you guys on the East Coast). Meanwhile, these alleged "VIPs" were able to stroll in 5 minutes before the show started and even invite more people into the show. So you sacrifice roughly a third of your audience to accommodate "VIPs," many of which often take pictures and record video during the show and text during matches, despite the no phone policy once the taping actually starts.
Executive Producer Eric Van Wagenen tried to claim that turned away fans could watch the show in a VIP room to wait as seats became available, but I called him out on that on Twitter because we were told nothing. All we heard was somebody say "we are out of tickets" once. We got no apologies nor we were told anything, let alone offered anything.
In one case, a fan that I interacted with on Twitter who also waited in line for the tapings was given VIP seats because there were kids in their group and the other remaining seats were said to not be "kid-friendly." However, before the main event, they were ejected from their seats so that "VIPs" could take them. I've seen fans moved from seats to make room for D-List celebs before, but that's usually communicated to them beforehand and they at least get to be in the standing section until that person leaves.
I get that the tickets are free, but to so easily dismiss fans because they aren't "VIP" is just bullshit. Don't have Vampiro and others do the ra-ra motivational speaker speech before the matches every taping about how all the fans are "family" and then pull crap like this. As somebody who's attended every Season 2 taping and a good portion of Season 1, it really makes all this "fans are family" talk seem disingenuous.

Re: Lucha Underground season 2 thread
A mix of all of the above. You routinely see wrestlers that never made it, reality show actors from several years ago, aged pornstars, and people that do podcasts & YouTube shows who act like their famous get in because they know the right person, or someone on the staff is a sucker for "celebrity" attention.
Apparently, there were a good amount of wrestling site writers who get in too, including some dude from WrestleZone who was like "if they run out of room, they run out of room." Coincidentally, he's also been writing super pro-LU articles lately and even trying to pick a Twitter fight with Jim Cornette over Cornette's comments about LU.
Eric Van Wagenen tried to rationalize on Twitter (responding to somebody else, but not me directly) that they purposely overbook the venue because of the typical no-show rate they get per show. However, they always have a ton of people in the standing room area (which are supposed to be considered the "standby" section), almost to the point that it's gotten unsafe to have so many people up there in the balcony area, so it's not like they don't have more than enough people to fill the seats if people don't show up.
Plus, he claimed that on rainy days they overbook the tickets that much more, which again, even with weather forecasts, could have only been planned a few days in advance. Keep in mind that as fans, we have to give 4 days notice if we aren't going to show, as where they gave us no notice about potentially being turned away.
What I'm upset about is the complete lack of communication from their staff. Their staff has been much better about communication in the past, but they seem to not give a damn at this point with their increasingly popularity. Konnan responded to me, but basically distanced himself from the situation (which it's been rumored he hasn't been involved at all for Season 2). Ron Funches (whoever that is) called me a whiny bitch. MLW was trying to help support my situation though.

If you don't have El Rey like myself you can buy the Lucha Underground Season 2 season pass on iTunes for 39.99!
They also have the complete season 1 for 44.99.

If the season pass was like $10 I'd do it. Amazon Prime would be even better.

Re: Lucha Underground season 2 thread
Anybody else not really feeling Season 2 thus far?
While I was at nearly all of these tapings and the matches were pretty good live, I HATED the way Matanza's debut happened both live and on TV.
I also hate how much they cut out of the matches in order to fit in so many vignettes into the episodes now.
And I'm sure most of you caught the major spoiler of what occurred at this weekend's tapings. To say they've jumped the shark would be an understatement.

I blame Bryan Alvarez for that spoiler.

Re: Lucha Underground season 2 thread
I've actually enjoyed this season a lot. There's been some eh stuff (Kobra Moon, Crew face-turn) but there's also been a lot of great matches (Fenix/Cuerno series, Fenix/Muertes, Aztec Warfare) and some interesting storyline developments (like Pentagon, Marty and in a way Matanza).
The cutting of the matches hasn't bothered me that much, but there's clearly more cuts than in Season 1.
Also, I haven't been spoiled about the big thing that apparently happened. The only thing I've heard (and seen some reactions about) is that it had something to do with
If its about what I think it is, then oohhhhh boy.

All I saw was someone was pulled off an indy show to go work the tapings, but that's all I actually saw.

Re: Lucha Underground season 2 thread
i've liked most things besides matanza. i just don't want to watch a slow, destroy everything monster in LU, or anywhere really. it just isn't very entertaining to watch
- Spoiler:
- I don't get the hate for the sexy star title run. i mean it sounds like a flukey thing and its not like she's worse than matanza. also, its lucha underground, they do stuff like this.
