So I'm playing my first online match in Madden -- me as Patriots vs him as Broncos. I'm up 27-14, and he throws an INT in the closing seconds of the third quarter. He quits the game. Guessing this happens often?

Well before you get too cocky, remember when you first play online you play with newbs at 2,000 skill points. So if you are any good, they are free wins. You'll also find that Madden favors your win or loss in some games with bizarre turnovers.
I've played a little over 200 online ranked matches and ended up in top 20% in the world. Those dudes are gangster. You really have to master playing more than just QB at that level.

Oh I'm not very good. I just play for fun mostly. There were about 8 people in the lobby when I played last night, and he at least had a winning record. Scares me to see what else I might find at the bottom rung of the ladder, but I will probably get killed if I play long enough.
I don't play online a lot because the game lags like hell compared to single-player or local multiplayer. I have a good internet connection, but football games and fighting games never run well online. Sometimes I wonder if that has anything to do with PSN servers compared to Xbox servers.
I play it on PS4.
