I gotta say you can tell when you're getting old when your favorite presents is things you need. Like my fave presents from this year were new pillows and some new socks. Like I feel bad because my girlfriend got me cool stuff like Death of WCW and a Daniel Bryan Pop vinyl and HIMYM S9 and other cool shit because she totally gets me. But it's the practical stuff that makes me the happiest these years.

I feel ya, the best part of my christmas was getting my mom a chromecast, setting it up for her and watching her be like "THIS IS AMAZING!!". The presents were nice, but it was mostly gift cards and money which isn't exciting, but more practical than other gifts lol.

The past two Christmases have been all about the practical stuff. Roommate who owned all the tools in the house moved out, so this year I get excited to get a tool set. And khakis, can never have enough khakis in my line of work. But the non practical stuff was pretty good too, like Bowie's new best of compilation, and The Critic on DVD.

I got socks and underwear, cologne, some cool t-shirts, and a good amount of cash and giftcards. We all agreed on a minimal style christmas this year. Y'know, save cash, just enjoy the day, a little bit of gifting and food, etc. It was really great. To hell with outrageous gift orgies, this was waaaay better.

Pretty much standard stuff for me. Some clothes, only thing out of the ordinary was a gift from my mom that ended up being a replica Sonic Screwdriver from Doctor Who.

The one thing I've noticed is that when you start making money on your own, you stop waiting until the holidays for things you want. When Christmas comes up and people start asking you what you want, you don't really have an answer because you're buying most of what you really want for yourself.

I had to spend a lot of time thinking about what I "wanted for Christmas" and even then, I only came up with like two items.

That said, the extended edition Lord of the Rings Trilogy BluRay box set is amazing. Very annoyed that the moves are still split across two BluRay disks though.

To echo the "getting old at Christmas is weird" sentiment, I was super happy about my carhart long sleeve shirt and camping equipment. However, my wife got me the Heyman, sting, and Foley dvds, Eddie Guerrero's autobiography and a WWE day calendar. I think she was, more than anything, trying to show off that she knows enough about wrestling to know things I would like without asking for them, which was adorable.

When I opened my Daniel Bryan Funko Pop figure my girlfriends face was like HA! HA! RIGHT! YOU LOVE HIM! RIGHT! And I fell in love all over again.

Good job by girlfriends this year.

My wife remembered not only my favorite baseball team (The Baltimore Goof Birds as she calls them) but also my brothers (Canada Birds) and she got me a stuffed Orioles and him a stuffed Blue Jay stocking stuffer.

Little things like that are awesome.

Girlfriend continued her tradition of getting me Daniel Bryan stuff as she got me his autobiography (and you'll love this Nikk) to go with Knicks tickets so I can finally see Godzingis.
