Better now than in a few weeks. He is hot enough to stay over with some non-contact appearances. THe WWE could choose to mess the whole thing up, but at worst should only potentially put an abrupt end to the wyatt feud, which isn't a bad thing. This is as good a stopping point as any and they might end up letting it linger too long.

It sucks, but there isn't a huge reason this should be a disaster. With a few weeks recovery time and taking it seriously, he can bounce back. Maybe even hold him out of the ring until Rumble and have him come in later than they might have planned.
