Vince McMahon: We knew going into WrestleMania III it would be huge...Likely the biggest event in our sport. A lot of sleepless nights went into the decision making and what we came up with...well knowing what I know now I still would make the same decisions. At the time though... rewrite was my favorite word

Roddy Piper: I sat in on a lot of those meetings, with Vince, Harley and the boys. I was still cutting my chops on booking but ... I knew we were on to something, and not just because I would benefit from it...

Bobby Heenan: You have a guy who no one can remember losing, and his opponent is a guy no one can picture losing. Some on has to lose, and therein lies the draw.

Vince McMahon: It was definitely the most defining...

    Bret Hart: ...biggest...

    Hulk Hogan: ...most eye opening...

Bobby Heenan: ...most well remembered match of all time.

From the desk of Vince McMahon:

Waaay to many wrestlers! Cut Tom Magee, Brad Rheingans, Iron Mike Sharpe, Jimmy Jack Funk, Danny Spivey, Outback Jack, The Assassin, Corporal Kirchner, Siva Afi. More cuts will be coming after WrestleMania.

JCW rebranded as World Championship Wrestling ... cute, like a mini-WWF. Make sure they don't get on PPV...

Set up a touring split with the main guys doing house shows and TV tapings for Superstars and the younger guys doing The Wrestling Challenge.

Put in a written offer to Bret Hart. He's been impressive as of late. Felt it only right to offer the same contract that Jim (Neidhart) has.

OOC wrote:As a rule for the WWF I will only be hiring those who are "Recognizable" to WWF, and if there are none then down to "Regional Star". This way I can avoid a pitfall of hiring all the guys I know will be good.

Honky Tonk Man got into a fight with Piper...and not the scripted kind. Tonk will serve a 28 day suspension...

Bob Orton and Magnificent Muraco vs. The Killer B's

This is basically a squash match as Orton is dominating Brian Blair and Jim Brunzell around the ring. After hitting the running high knee on Brian Blair Orton tagged in Muraco. Muraco wastes no time capitalizing on the downed Blair with a knee. He goes to turn Blair around for the tombstone piledriver but Orton and his recent 'friend' Paul Orndorff. Orndorff begins yelling at Muraco...and Orton joins in! This provides time for Blair to latch in a sleeper hold. As Muraco struggles to get out, Orton and Orndoff go to the back leaving Muraco alone! Muraco is able to get out and hit Blair with the tombstone for the win.

    Billy Jack Haynes vs. Hercules

These two big men have a pretty standard brawl. Heenan gets involved at every instance and gives Hercules the advantage. Hercules goes for the full nelson but Haynes powered out and turned it into a headlock. Haynes uses power moves, including threatening to toss Hercules onto Heenan who scampers away down the ramp. At the top of the ramp Heenan yells in despair as Hercules is locked in the full nelson and taps.

While Jim might be a fun character for the kids to cheer, the outcome here was never in doubt as Bundy dominates the big man from Mudlick. After the quick match Heenan seems to have his spirits rejuvenated as he celebrates as Bundy stares stone faced into the camera.

    Junkyard Dog vs. Harley Race
    Loser Must Bow

This one turns into brawl right away as Yard tosses Race out of the ring. Heenan tries to distract the Dog but JYD powers through the distraction and takes it to Race in the early going. Race takes a suplex on the thin blue mat, and that gives JYD the advantage for most of the match. Once referee Joey Marella is able to get both men into the ring, Heenan and Race are able to take control again.

With Race in control the match slows down significantly. The crowd turns hostile as it looks more and more like King Race will win this battle. However, Heenan wants Race to keep the beating going, and this gives Junkyard the chance to roll up Race for the quick win. Heenan and Race retreat up the ramp to avoid bowing to JYD. As he backs up, Race yells that he will “never bow!”

    Hair vs. Hair

Hot Rod starts off on fire, and the early going of this matchup is all Piper as Adonis is just lucky to get a few strikes in before being on the defensive again. Jimmy Hart provides the needed catalyst for Adrians comeback, hitting Piper with the megaphone leading to a low blow while the ref was yelling at the Mouth. Adonis did not let up while in control, and it took an old trick from Piper, a subtle thumb to the eye for Roddy to take back control and eventually put Adonis down with the sleeper hold.

    WWF Tag Team Championship

The Bulldogs start off with the early advantage, with Davey overpowering the Anvil. Neidhart is not used to being over matched in the strength department and has a tough time keeping up with the Bulldogs quick tags. Indeed it takes a Jimmy Hart distract for Neidhart to make it to his corner and tag in Bret. Bret has Dynamite isolated for about five minutes, putting the Kid through a wringer of nasty stretches and holds.

The pace picks up when Davey tags in. He batters Bret around so badly the technician tumbles to the outside. However, as Smith gives chase Neidhart clubs him down and rolls him in the ring. Hart stumbles over and latches in the sharpshooter. The Anvil runs interference and the Hart Foundation retain.

Reed's strong WWF PPV debut was spoiled here by the high speed offense of the Birdman early on. Ware was able to keep the pace up early, leading to a key moment where Reed's frustration took over and he landed a shot that seemed below the belt. The ref questioned Reed but he denied it...while taking advantage and pounding on the downed Ware. Ware never recovered and Reed took the tainted win.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Stan Hansen

Hansen, standing in for the 'injured' Honky Tonk Man had been pestering Roberts backstage with attacks for weeks. The ring offered no solitude for the Snake either, as Hansen came out with fury unseen by the WWF, looking to have Roberts beat in the first few minutes. Roberts, to his credit, is a fighter and used all his shortcuts to stifle the offense of Hansen. Finally Jake rolled to the outside to regroup and Hansen made the mistake of following.

Outside Jake used the barricade, the ring steps and even Jesse Ventura's water bottle as a weapon. Battered in a way he had not seen in Japan, Hansen scurried back into the ring searching for solice. Roberts did not let up, snapping off a crisp flurry of offense before doubling Hansen over for the DDT. Hansen pushed out though and Roberts stumbled back into the ropes... Hansen ran at him and LARIAT! Match over.

Hansen, upset at Roberts being a harder out than he anticipated, hits a second and third lariat on the spaghetti legged Snake. The third lariat spins Jake inside out and Hansen finally leaves as a host of road agents and medics tend to the Snake.

We pick up as Steamboat rolls up Savage...but no! Savage kicks out at the last second! Steele is beside himself as is Elizabeth. Both men take a long time getting to there feet...but Steamboat is first. He pulls Savage up and sets up the chop...Savage ducks! Schoolboy roll up!

Savage raises Steamboat's hand as if he was the winner but Steamboat points to the Macho Man and leaves the ring. They may not like each other, but they now respect each other.

Hogan's offense seems to do nothing early on as Andre is absorbing all the blows. Eventually the action spills to the outside where Hogan slams Andre face first into the steps. This seems to stun the Giant and Hulk pumps himself up to try and slam Andre! Not this time as Hogan is backdropped onto the thin blue mats! Jesse comments how that has to play a factor with Hogan's ribs being not 100%.

The action belongs to Andre until the tenth minute when Hogan Hulks up. Andre lands punch after punch but Hogan just glares...and points! Headbutt! Andre downed Hogan mid Hulk Up with a headbutt! Andre hits the ropes for an elbow drop...but Hogan sits up. Andre cannot believe it! Heenan is throwing a fit! Hulk is still Hulking! He points again, and hits punch after punch.
